Tomorrow is Tax Day and there are hundreds of anti-tax “Tea Parties” planned across the nation to protest the out of control spending by our federal government and Obama’s unrealistic socialist programs. The mainstream media is trying to ignore this movement and characterise it simply as a bunch of radical extremists. Acorn, Obama’s favorite group of community organizers, is already leaking word that they plan to show up at many of the Tea Parties and disrupt them.
However, Tea Parties have found a voice on the internet and radio. They are made up of the usual silent majority who work hard and try to provide for themselves and their families. They have worked all their lives to save for their future and buy the best homes they could afford.
Now because of irresponsible government mortgage programs and greedy banks, we’re in a major financial crisis. Many of these people who have worked and saved are seeing their jobs, savings and homes in jeopardy. Even the financial future of their grandchildren is threatened. These are the people are upset and showing up at these Tea Parties to let the government know how they they feel.
In these last few months we have seen that just throwing money at a problem will not solve it. Even if it is trillions and trillions of our tax dollars.
Last week I hoped there were signs of an upturn but the Department of Commerce report issued today shows retail sales are down 1.1% for March and auto sales down by 2.3% (23.5% lower than March 2008). People are afraid to spend money now and unemployment is still increasing by 600,000 per month.
The people being affected by these downturns are the ones organizing these Tea Parties to let the government know they’ve had enough of this out of control spending and taxes. These are not radical extremists, they are your neighbors. They are not “arrogant” Americans but proud Americans who believe in living free and self sufficient. Even Texas Governor Rick Perry has stated ‘the federal government is becoming oppressive” and expressed his support for these grass roots protests.
When the news media and politicians lecture you on the 15th how misguided these simple people at these Tea Parties are, take a minute to consider where we are now and how we got here. Then you decide who is really misguided.
Make your own decision, after all we are still free, aren’t we?
