Glenn Beck created the restore honor rally to encourage those who love the United States as our founders created it to come to Washington and over half a million of them accepted the invitation. This huge crowd was composed of all sorts of people of different ages, races, religions and incomes.

The main things most of this group have in common is a love of the USA, freedom and God. They have a sense of honor and duty to preserve our blessings for their children whether that means military service, showing up at town hall meetings or the restore honor rally. These are decent honest people with the courage of their beliefs who want their children to enjoy the same advantages they did if not more.

They are the people who make our country what it was meant to be. They desire and deserve the right to take advantage of what opportunities our freedom offers them without government oppression. Our government should serve us not rule us.

Many of these people are veterans and they have damn well earned the constitutional rights they seek to now preserve.

The good news for us who want to restore honor to our nation is that these 500,000 who attended the event are just the tip of the iceberg of those who feel the same. The November elections are just two months away so as long as we stay motivated, we can take a major step toward restoring honor in our nation.

We owe Glenn Beck our gratitude for showing us just how many others share our passion and commitment. We can also be very proud of the group that share our values.

It’s a sad situation for those who live along our southwestern border these days. Good citizens are living in fear because of our federal government allows the Mexican border to remain an open gateway for drug smugglers and a flood of illegal aliens.

Not only are they worried about the safety of their families but their tax dollars are being wasted to provide social services for these illegals. Texas reports that it delivers 60,000 babies to illegal parents each year and of course, the babies are by current law US citizens. The annual cost Texas spends for health care for these illegals is currently $96 million per year.

The federal government’s refusal to secure the Arizona border has also brought its citizens to a breaking point. Yet when Arizona passed state law to enforce the existing US law, Obama and Attorney General Holder sued the state. Holder is also threatening to bring charges against Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpio for arresting illegals and enforcing local law.

As safety has become more of a critical issue near the border, the federal government has put up warning signs and does little else to actually make a difference. In 2010, the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency has arrested 900 illegal workers compared to 6,000 arrests and deportations under Bush in 2008.

This short video shows the frustration and seriousness of this problem:

As bad as this problem is in the southwest, it is quickly spreading throughout the rest of the United States. I hope we will all wake up before this problem becomes more dangerous. We have reasonable immigration laws and welcome those who come here legally. We must start enforcing those laws before we lose what so many sacrificed for over 200 years to build for us.

As the November elections are getting closer and polling shows just how out of touch the radical liberals are with the American people, a lot of strange charges and excuses are coming out of Washington. If you support lower taxes, smaller government, politicians that serve their voters and secure borders, you hear rants from DC that you are out of touch. If you oppose the mosque on Ground Zero, you are some kind of religious bigot.

As much as those voices try to convince us that they speak for the majority of Americans, we know better. Don’t get distracted or confused between now and November but keep in mind the voices that do speak for us.

Except for one semester in college when jobs were scarce and a six-month period when I was between jobs, but job-hunting every day, I’ve worked, hard, since I was 18. Despite some health challenges, I still put in 50-hour weeks, and haven’t called in sick in seven or eight years. I make a good salary, but I didn’t inherit my job or my income, and I worked to get where I am. Given the economy, there’s no retirement in sight, and I’m tired. Very tired.

I’m tired of being told that I have to “spread the wealth” to people who don’t have my work ethic. I’m tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy to earn it.

I’m tired of being told that I have to pay more taxes to “keep people in their homes.” Sure, if they lost their jobs or got sick, I’m willing to help. But if they bought McMansions at three times the price of our paid-off, $250,000 condo, on one-third of my salary, then let the left-wing Congress-critters who passed Fannie and Freddie and the Community Reinvestment Act that created the bubble help them with their own money.

I’m tired of being told how bad America is by left-wing millionaires like Michael Moore, George Soros and Hollywood Entertainers who live in luxury because of the opportunities America offers. In thirty years, if they get their way, the United States will have the economy of Zimbabwe, the freedom of the press of China, the crime and violence of Mexico, the tolerance for Christian people of Iran, and the freedom of speech of Venezuela.

I’m tired of being told that Islam is a “Religion of Peace,” when every day I can read dozens of stories of Muslim men killing their sisters, wives and daughters for their family “honor”; of Muslims rioting over some slight offense; of Muslims murdering Christian and Jews because they aren’t “believers”; of Muslims burning schools for girls; of Muslims stoning teenage rape victims to death for “adultery”; of Muslims mutilating the genitals of little girls; all in the name of Allah, because the Qur’an and Shari’a law tells them to.

I’m tired of being told that “race doesn’t matter” in the post-racial world of Obama, when it’s all that matters in affirmative action jobs, lower college admission and graduation standards for minorities (harming them the most), government contract set-asides, tolerance for the ghetto culture of violence and fatherless children that hurts minorities more than anyone, and in the appointment of U.S.. Senators from Illinois.

I think it’s very cool that we have a black president and that a black child is doing her homework at the desk where Lincoln wrote the Emancipation Proclamation. I just wish the black president was Condi Rice, or someone who believes more in freedom and the individual and less arrogantly of an all-knowing government.

I’m tired of a news media that thinks Bush’s fundraising and inaugural expenses were obscene, but that think Obama’s, at triple the cost, were wonderful; that thinks Bush exercising daily was a waste of presidential time, but Obama exercising is a great example for the public to control weight and stress; that picked over every line of Bush’s military records, but never demanded that Kerry release his; that slammed Palin, with two years as governor, for being too inexperienced for VP, but touted Obama with three years as senator as potentially the best president ever. Wonder why people are dropping their subscriptions or switching to Fox News? Get a clue. I didn’t vote for Bush in 2000, but the media and Kerry drove me to his camp in 2004.

I’m tired of being told that out of “tolerance for other cultures” we must let Saudi Arabia use our oil money to fund mosques and mandrassa Islamic schools to preach hate in America, while no American group is allowed to fund a church, synagogue or religious school in Saudi Arabia to teach love and tolerance.

I’m tired of being told I must lower my living standard to fight global warming, which no one is allowed to debate. My wife and I live in a two-bedroom apartment and carpool together five miles to our jobs. We also own a three-bedroom condo where our daughter and granddaughter live. Our carbon footprint is about 5% of Al Gore’s, and if you’re greener than Gore, you’re green enough.

I’m tired of being told that drug addicts have a disease, and I must help support and treat them, and pay for the damage they do. Did a giant germ rush out of a dark alley, grab them, and stuff white powder up their noses while they tried to fight it off? I don’t think Gay people choose to be Gay, but I damn sure think druggies chose to take drugs. And I’m tired of harassment from cool people treating me like a freak when I tell them I never tried marijuana.

I’m tired of illegal aliens being called “undocumented workers,” especially the ones who aren’t working, but are living on welfare or crime. What’s next? Calling drug dealers, “Undocumented Pharmacists”? And, no, I’m not against Hispanics. Most of them are Catholic, and it’s been a few hundred years since Catholics wanted to kill me for my religion. I’m willing to fast track for citizenship any Hispanic person, who can speak English, doesn’t have a criminal record and who is self-supporting without family on welfare, or who serves honorably for three years in our military…. Those are the citizens we need.

I’m tired of latte liberals and journalists, who would never wear the uniform of the Republic themselves, or let their entitlement-handicapped kids near a recruiting station, trashing our military. They and their kids can sit at home, never having to make split-second decisions under life and death circumstances, and bad mouth better people than themselves. Do bad things happen in war? You bet. Do our troops sometimes misbehave? Sure. Does this compare with the atrocities that were the policy of our enemies for the last fifty years and still are? Not even close. So here’s the deal. I’ll let myself be subjected to all the humiliation and abuse that was heaped on terrorists at Abu Ghraib or Gitmo, and the critics can let themselves be subject to captivity by the Muslims, who tortured and beheaded Daniel Pearl in Pakistan, or the Muslims who tortured and murdered Marine Lt. Col. William Higgins in Lebanon, or the Muslims who ran the blood-spattered Al Qaeda torture rooms our troops found in Iraq, or the Muslims who cut off the heads of schoolgirls in Indonesia, because the girls were Christian. Then we’ll compare notes. British and American soldiers are the only troops in history that civilians came to for help and handouts, instead of hiding from in fear.

I’m tired of people telling me that their party has a corner on virtue and the other party has a corner on corruption. Read the papers; bums are bipartisan. And I’m tired of people telling me we need bipartisanship. I live in Illinois , where the “Illinois Combine” of Democrats has worked to loot the public for years. Not to mention the tax cheats in Obama’s cabinet.

I’m tired of hearing wealthy athletes, entertainers and politicians of both parties talking about innocent mistakes, stupid mistakes or youthful mistakes, when we all know they think their only mistake was getting caught. I’m tired of people with a sense of entitlement, rich or poor.

Speaking of poor, I’m tired of hearing people with air-conditioned homes, color TVs and two cars called poor. The majority of Americans didn’t have that in 1970, but we didn’t know we were “poor.” The poverty pimps have to keep changing the definition of poor to keep the dollars flowing.

This has been a hard week for me. Wednesday I learned that a close friend had gone to the hospital with chest pain and had to have emergency heart bypass surgery. Six bypasses! Surgery did go well and we are hoping for a good recovery but his life will be much different than before. He seemed healthy and was very active but always too busy to properly exercise.

On Thursday, I learned that my neighbor had been in an Atlanta hospital and had been diagnosed with a blood clot on his brain. I don’t know all the details, but his doctors don’t feel that is is a threat for now.

These are both serious situations that seem to be progressing well but these guys are both younger than me and it feels like a slap reminding me of my own mortality. It is no secret to any of us over 50 that each year makes it harder to stay fit and healthy.

I am also a caregiver for my 90 year old mother, so trips to the golf course are getting rare. I do exercise but need to do more to keep my weight down and stay healthy. However I don’t want to go to crazy extremes to do it. That’s why I’m glad I just discovered The Diet Solution Program.

This is a very popular program developed by Isobel De Los Rios, a nutritionist and exercise specialist with 10 years of experience helping clients reach their ideal weight and tackle conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and high cholesterol. The Diet Solution Program is the result of 15 years of study and research. Part of Isobel’s motivation was a personal weight problem and her mother’s severe diabetes.

Isobel believes this program is the most comprehensive and detailed nutrition manual available today. It teaches you the principles you need to follow to reach your ideal weight but also meal plans, shopping lists and recipes to do so. It actually teaches you how you can make this healthy way of eating into a lifestyle and enjoy it.

Like anything worthwhile in life, it does require commitment and honest effort to get results. However, it is not extreme or unreasonable.

For more information, just click Diet Solution. It could be the key to better health and fitness you have been waiting for.

Best regards,

When I started this site I planned to provide information about retirement and vacations but since Obamacare, it has been focused more on politics than I like. Whether I like it or not, it is critical for those of us over 50 to be aware and prepared for the effects Obama’s policies will have on our lives. Unfortunately the facts are far different from what Obama promised and the compliant news media covers for him.

Our generation is a prime target for cost cuts under Obamacare and this means health care rationing. Obama’s recess appointment of Dr. Donald Berwick to take charge of Medicare and Medicaid Services is a warning of what is to come. Dr. Berwick is a huge fan of Britain’s National Health Service because of their aggressive rationing. He has stated “the decision is not whether or not we will ration care, the decision is whether we will ration with our eyes open.”

Rationing will mean as we grow older, the government will decide on what care we receive based on cost effectiveness rather than medical need. In other words, as we grow old forget about the surgery and settled for a pain pill or possibly just do without.

The way Obama handled the Berwick appointment exposes his lack of respect for the Senate and the voters. It also shows us Obama’s true feelings regarding denial of health services under his program. If Berwick had faced Senate confirmation his radical views on rationing and wealth redistribution would have been exposed. Obama does not want us to realize what is coming before it is too late to change it.

Berwick also has stated that any just health care system must redistribute the wealth from the richer among us to the poorer and less fortunate. So you’ll not only have your personal health care rationed by Dr. Berwick but you will be expected to surrender your wealth to provide the health care for others. You may have heard of “death panels” before but did you realize that you would also have to finance them?

Obama had to bypass Senate confirmation because Berwick’s radical socialist views are even too much for some Democrat Senators, Max Baucus for one. Obama doesn’t want it exposed how different Obamacare is from what he and the Democrats promised.

With Obama’s failure with the economy, refusal to secure our border, incompetence with the oil spill and misrepresentation of Obamacare, it is urgent that we do all we can with the November elections prevent his policies from being successful.

Today is the 234th anniversary of our independence and during those years many brave people have sacrificed and suffered a great deal to protect and preserve our freedoms. Let us appreciate the liberty and opportunity they have created for us and not let misguided or greedy politicians destroy them.

Things are rough for many of us right now but as long as we preserve our independence they will improve.

I wish a safe and happy holiday for all of you. If you are in the military thank you for your sacrifice, you make us all very proud.

As each day passes and more oil spills into the Gulf, it is becoming evident that Obama intends to take advantage of this crisis to advance his personal agenda. Obama has made a number of references that this crisis requires us to transform our basic energy structure.

Day three of the spill the Dutch offered assistance of special skimmer ships which can pick up 20,000 tons of sludge a day, yet at day 65 Obama still refuses the offer. Europeans claim that they could clean up the oil in four months on their own and with US assistance only three months. However Obama chooses a nine-month plan without outside help.

On June 22, a federal judge in Louisiana reversed a six-month moratorium on all drilling when it was discovered that the recommendations of a board of experts investigating the situation had been misrepresented by the government. Even so, the Interior Department pledges they will get the drilling ban back in force as soon as possible.

It’s sad that people in power are willing to do so much damage to the Gulf Coast and so many thousands whose jobs depend on the oil industry to manipulate this crisis for political advantage. The federal government has even stopped dredging operations to protect the Louisiana coast because they didn’t like where the sand was dredged. They even shut down a skimmer ship because its life preservers were not the right type.

It’s a shame when an accident as serious as this occurs that our federal government appears to be trying to prolong the problem and delay those who are most desperate to repair the damage and put their lives back together.

A recent Associated Press article by Jeannine Aversa shows that debt still has Americans feeling a great deal of stress. A recent AP poll found 46% are suffering from debt related stress and half of those describe the amount of stress as great.

It’s bad enough when you make bad decisions and end up in trouble. On the other hand when you save and sacrifice to provide for your future but still wind up in trouble, you can feel helpless and violated which really increases your stress.

Unemployment is still near 10% and those in charge seem more talented at increasing the national debt than putting people back to work. The poll shows those currently feeling the most stress have incomes below $50,000 even though they have only slightly increased their debt level.

It seems that most of us are worried things will get worse before they get better. I just heard that in the month of May 95% of jobs created were government jobs. Our taxes pay those salaries and government workers are currently paid more than private-sector jobs doing the same work. So we all have good reason to feel stress as well as anger right now.

The oil spill in the Gulf has also given us a lot to feel anxious about. Many are worried that their jobs related to the Gulf will never return. No one yet knows how bad the oil damage will be or how long it will last.

It also seems Obama doesn’t have a solution but will not take advice from experts and local leaders on any of their plans for protecting the coast. BP does seem to be trying their best to cap the leak but with little success. At present we are not even sure if the leak may spread as far as the Atlantic coast.

I hope with the November elections that we will get enough new leaders to change the direction of the economy to encourage business and job growth.

In the meantime, I suggest that you take any opportunity you can afford to enjoy family and friends to relieve your stress when possible. People don’t realize just how badly stress and anxiety can harm their health if they don’t control it. Don’t underestimate the value of a vacation or long weekends but only if you can afford it in these times.

If you already feel that stress and anxiety have gotten the best of you, you might want to consider a guide such as Conquering Stress or even get medical help. Don’t take stress for granted if it is already affecting your health, seek help.

For the sake of us all and our country, I hope our situation will improve as we go through the summer but I fear it will take the election to ignite some positive change. Until things do improve, I wish you the best and urge you to do what you can to manage the stress we are all dealing with now.

Best regards,
