End of Life Counseling for Veterans?

by Charles on August 21, 2009

Recently Obama has acted like he thought criticism of end of life counseling or “pulling the plug on Grandma” was some kind of joke. However when you look at the Veteran Administration’s booklet, “Your Choices, Your Life”, you can understand why Sarah Palin refers to end of life counseling as a “death panel”. This booklet has been nicknamed the “Death Book” by those familiar with it.

The Veteran’s Death Book was first issued in 1997, but was discontinued for moral reasons by George Bush when he became President. It was reinstated for use when Obama took office.

The author of the book is Dr. Robert Pearlman, who in 1996 advocated physician assisted suicide before the Supreme Court and strongly supports health care rationing.

This Death Book has veterans evaluate whether or not their life is still worth living. A directive in July 2009 instructs physicians of VA patients to refer them all to the “Your Life, Your Choices” book regardless of age or injury.

Our veterans deserve all the respect and gratitude we can give them. Not encouragement to end their lives which they put at risk for love of their country.

Do you still want to put the government in charge of administering your and your family’s health care?

Most of the facts concerning this VA book came from Jim Towey’s article, The Death Book For Veterans, for The Wall Street Journal. You can read his entire article by clicking this link: Death Book .

I am 69 years old and a veteran of the US Army.

Mr. Obama has stated his position that Military casualties of war should be required to pay for thier own health care, because they volunteered to join the Military. Now it appears that he is wanting them to just go ahead and end their lives to save everyone from having to care for them!

This is one of the most dispicable opinions that I have ever heard coming from a President of the United States!

This Democratic administration has called Veterans, “Possible Terrorists”, “Neanderthols”, Brown Shirts, (Natzis), and other downgrading names!

As military personel we took an oath to defend this country against all enemies, both foreign and domestic! Even though no longer on active status, I believe that all veterans, and active duty personel, still take that oath seriously!

It is my opinion that all Military veterans need to join together and defeat this “Domestic Enemy” in Washington DC that we are now facing, whose apparent policy is to totally destroy this country from within!
