The government has just reported that 4 million jobs were lost in 2009 and there were 480,000 new unemployment claims in December. I don’t know anybody who can really make good sense from government data, but it is clear that we can expect a bad economy to last for some time yet.
Although this is a bad time for all of us, I know that many are in desperate situations through no fault of your own. Too many politicians today seem to promote policies that eliminate jobs instead of create them.
The best solution for you these days is to be as self reliant as possible even if it means changing your career. I know this can be a very hard decision but an experienced career expert, Alexandra Levit, has recently released a new book, New Job New You (Amazon affiliate link). She is an experienced career coach and a career columnist for the Wall Street Journal.
She shows you how to research a career that best suits you and how to market yourself for that career. This guide has a 5 star rating on Amazon and may be the help you need to decide how to improve your situation.
Things will get better but it will take longer than we would prefer. I hope you will find this information helpful and I will continue to pass on resources I find that may help you.
